BRIEF OVERVIEW OF SOUTH CAROLINA PROBATION
Generally, Judges in criminal cases sentence people to either (1) fines, (2) prison/jail, (3) probation or (4) a combination. What rights do you give up if you are put on probation?
1. If you are convicted of a crime that carries a year or more in jail, you are forever barred from possessing a firearm or ammunition under Federal law.
2. If you are convicted of a crime of domestic violence, you are forever barred from possessing a firearm or ammunition under Federal law.
3. Required to be truthful to the probation agent.
4. Agent is allowed into your home without notice.
5. No use of controlled substance and random drug tests.
6. No possession of firearms or dangerous weapons.
7. Remain employed.
8. Cannot associate with people with criminal records or with people the Agent tells the person not to be around.
9. Pay supervision fees.
10. Cannot leave the State without permission.
